Day 08 - Driving to Laugar and exploring Mývatn area

Breakfast at 7am, check out hotel and go to Europcar for the 'Urea' signal. Nice guy helps us and also cleans quickly our car as windows are brown from dust.
We drive to Godafoss and Geitafoss. We walk around the falls.
Then we drive to Mývatn to see the Skútustaðagígar craters. Beautiful but lots of annoying sandflies, just awful. Then we stop around many places in Mývatn.
Then to Dimmuborgir Lava Field for a long walk. Impressive!
Then drive to Hverfjall Crater. We walk all the way to the top! Intensive but what a view!
A bit further is the Grjótagja cave where we had a short walk.
Then to Námaskarð hot springs called Hverir and several fumaroles and mud pools. The sulphurous smell is awful but it is a beautiful scenery. Then to Storu Laugar guesthouse. On our way we buy sun cream, we did not expect this! Check in with the friendly owner. We have dinner there, what an excellent menu! Mushroom soup, ovenbaked trout with buttered potatoes and capers, chocolate cake with whipped cream. We make a short walk to the horses behind the guesthouse. So peaceful here! Early sleep as we are very tired.
