Day 01 - Arriving in Oslo
After a hectic night with our neighbour upstairs, we are ready and our driver (who picked us up on previous trips) arrives at 6h45am and drives us to Zaventem.
Once we reach the airport we both have a strange feeling. It is just 3 months ago since our international airport was victim of a terrorist attack. We look for our check-in, deliver our luggage and leave the entrance hall as soon as possible...
We pass smoothly the security-check and have breakfast at Belgorama. Then it is a few hours waiting at the gate which changes but fortunately it is the gate just across the hall.
The flight of 1h45pm goes smoothly and we fly over some famous places for us, the ring of Antwerp, famous court hall (aka 'frietzakjes') and our work but none of these are comparable to the amazing view we get just before landing in Oslo.
We pick up our luggage (our trackdots had already warned us that it arrived here!) and we pick up our car at Avis. At first we get a VW Golf but they ask us if we want an upgrade to an Audi Q5. We tell them that ordering the car was difficult as we did not know what we would get. Apparently they changed the classes of their cars in April but when we tell them that on our voucher it mentions a Hyundai IX35 for which we also paid, the girl goes to her manager and comes back to tell us that we do get the Audi Q5 without additional costs. A brand new car with only 1600 km!
We drive towards Oslo but stop at a gas station to change all the car's configurations as our knowledge of the Norwegian language is quite limited. After about 45km we arrive at our hotel, we get a very quiet room on the seventh (and also the highest) floor. We decide to have an early dinner next door's at 'Brunello'. We each have a Pizza 'Europe' which was very good. We reorganise our luggage, have a nice shower and go to sleep. Tomorrow should be a nice day for a walk…
