Day 19 - Driving to Reykjavik
Breakfast around 7.30am and an hour later we leave. As it is better weather today we decide to drive back to Dyrhólaey for better pictures of the lighthouse and the black beach. We see puffins on the rock today. Then we drive on and for the same reason we stop again at Skógafoss for a sunny picture. On our drive we see the Katla vulcano and little sister Eyjafjallajökull. We just take a picture of the Seljalandsfoss because there is a line of cars waiting to get to the parking to walk behind this foss and we already did that at Kvernufoss yesterday. So we leave that for what it is. Then we drive to the Ægissíðufoss, very short walk to the foss. It has also a salmon ladder. Then to the Urriðafoss. Picture stop. Then to the narrow Knarrarósviti. This lighthouse, from 1939, which was for a long time the tallest building in South Iceland (26,2m). Then along the coast to Hveragerði, where it is pouring and between the rain we take some pictures instead of a hike. We go to Kringlan shopping mall because of the rain, since then it stopped raining and it is sunny. Then to hotel in Reykjavik where we get a very small room but as they are fully booked we cannot change. Then we walk around in the city enjoying the sun! Back to hotel and dinner at Rosso Pommodoro and afterwards we walk around a bit, we see two women eating icecream so Nathalie asks where they got it and it is just a bit further. She finally gets two scoops of the famous icelandic icecream. Chocolate was great, strawberry nothing special.
