Breakfast at 4am and around 5am we are at the airport. We get help from an attendant as we need to print and stick our own luggage labels. Apparently our luggage must go to the check in of odd size.
Then through customers, we wait a while and start boarding.
After a while we are informed about a technical problem so we have some delay (it's an Italian plane...), after an hour again, after another hour again, we then get a snack and a drink, after three hours on the plane we are informed that it will not be solved today.
We have to get off, go to the service counter and queue for a long time. We are now planned to fly a day later but to Amsterdam. They first wanted to send us a day later to Helsinki and then to Brussels but then we had to search ourselves for a hotel in the middle of the night, we did not want to do that. We get a voucher for taxi to and back from the hotel, one for a night at the hotel Park Inn by Radisson, lunch, dinner and breakfast.
We've met a great couple (each others' colleagues) and we talk a long time. We were able to laugh a lot where the waiter comes to us saying that he never saw such happy people who's flight have been cancelled.
We make some calls to reschedule our taxi that was supposed to pick us up in Brussels and they will pick us up in Amsterdam.
We walk around a bit at the seaside where we see a dolphin twice. Then back to the hotel as it is cold, rest a bit and then dinner.
Tomorrow we're leaving Iceland unfortunately...
