Day 17 - Driving to Vík í Mýrdal

Breakfast around 8am, nice and long as it is raining (???), then we drive to Lómagnúpur which is a beautiful rock but it is very foggy. Then we drive on and see a bit further an abandoned old bridge. Then we continue to Fossálar, the beautiful falls just near Rout 1.
Then we drive on to Dverghamrar where we have a short walk around the basalt rock. A bit further we see the Foss a Síðu. Then we drive on to Stjórnarfoss, short walk to the falls and then a walk on to Kirkjugólf (the area was before the end of the last ice age, the sea floor!). A short walk on the basalt columns on groundflour (!). There we also spot a Rock Ptarmigan.
Then to Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon and hike to Mögáfoss. Still raining!!! Then we drive through the mossy lava fields. Then up to Gýgagjá, to see the cave but it is full of people so we walk on the black sand beach. It is raining so hard and there is such a hard wind that everything is wet and Patrick’s coat is no longer waterproof! Then to the Kria hotel, we go to the shopping mall across the hotel to buy a new coat for Patrick. Then back for a hot shower and dinner at the hotel.

A better view on Lómagnúpur than yesterday! An abandoned old bridge near Route 1 Fossálar Dverghamrar Nathalie near Dverghamrar Foss a Síðu Two falls near Route 1 Stjórnarfoss
