Day 11 - From Lake Tahoe to El Portal, California and Yosemite NP
We leave Lake Tahoe and drive through the Toiyabe National Forest and then the Stanislaus National Forest. After less than half an hour Nathalie sees somewhere in a meadow a coyote with a little one, we stop to take pictures but they are far away. Nathalie really has a hawk-eye!
Further on we see two roadkills, deer. We drive on and reach the famous Sonora Pass, what a beautiful road with many heavy turns and going up and down. We stop very often to take pictures. After a long drive we reach the long expected Yosemite National Park and drive on over the loop in Yosemite Valley. It is beautiful but very crowded.
We almost immediately see some deer. One deer wants to cross the road and Patrick has to stop the traffic otherwise it would not survive it. Some people really drive recklessly and too fast in a national park.
We drive to our hotel, check in and have dinner at the River Restaurant, we decide to take a nice steak which is not fantastic but except for a pizza place, there is not a lot of choice around here. They do have the famous red Zinfandel from California, a delicious wine. The table next to ours sits a Belgian couple with daughter and we have a long talk about our trips. Then we go to sleep.
Daytrip approx. 393 km
