Day 1 - Arrival in Montréal, Québec
Finally it’s vacation-time, and we are going to Canada!
Checking-in went very smoothly although only one of the two machines was working. Once on board Nathalie sat next to a Russian man who seemed to be ill. He could not talk a word of English nor French. We will await what happens... Finally everything was back to normal for him, fortunately.
After a 7-hours flight came the landing, which was quite bumpy so Nathalie was not feeling so well, we passed Customs (same as in the USA) and then we picked up our luggage. We went to the Alamo office to pick up our rental car. There they asked us if we wish to have a larger car, which we didn't. We got a beautiful white Chevrolet Travers. Now we know why they wanted to give us a larger car. They had no smaller 4x4 and hoped that they could earn some money on this one! Grin...
After checking-in in the hotel, where they gave us a very large room with two big beds, we parked our car in the hotel's underground parking and went for a walk. The neighborhood is not great... but later we arrived in old Montreal at the seaport and found a Keg (which we got to know on our trip to Vancouver in 2009) where we had a great meal!
Around 8pm local time (2am Belgian time) we were already snoring in our beds.
Daytrip approx. 21 km
