Day 19 - From Yellowstone-West to Teton Village, Wyoming and Grand Teton NP
Today we leave Yellowstone National Park and swap it for Grand Teton National Park (Nathalie's favorite park!).
We drive southwards to Grand Teton. It is beautiful weather which makes this region even prettier. It is amazing! At the park-sign we take some nice family pictures.
We stop at Colter Bay from where you have a fantastic view on the Tetons with a small harbor and boats in front of it. An amazing view.
At the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Parkway, between Jackson Lake and Two Ocean Lake we see a grizzly next to the road.
When we take a turn to the Teton Park Road we see in the meadow a Sandhill Crane. We drive around and try to reach as many beautiful places as possible and for this you need quite some time as it is very wide here.
Patrick wants to take a special photo and we drive to Mormon Row where you find the two most famous barns in the world. One is on private property so we do not want to disturb the owners but the second is reachable. The timing is not perfect, if you want to take perfect pictures here, you need to get up very early. The barn stands in east-western line with the Tetons so the best pictures are at sunrise. For a short while we consider coming back tomorrow very early but the road here is so bad and no lights so we decide to leave this for the professionals.
We look for our hotel in Teton Village but need to ask how to get there. It is a beautiful Eco-hotel, entirely new and all in the theme of the environment.
A bit later we have dinner in the Steakhouse Grill and take the Kobe steak. Not the real stuff as this one is not exported from Japan but comes from a breed cultivated here in the USA. Fantastic!
Daytrip approx. 286 km
