Day 14 - From Moab to Grand Junction, CO
Today we go to Grand Junction accompanied by an extremely hot sun and beautiful scenery.
On our way we visit the Colorado National Monument. In fact, this is not a monument like we know it but it is a park a bit like Canyonlands. There we drive on a road with on one side a very deep canyon and beautiful views. We stop at many places to enjoy the view and take pictures a.o. from the Independence Monument which is a gigantic rock in the middle of the valley.
We drive on and reach Grand Junction. We seem to have picked a perfect day as on the main street there is a little market for Pancake Day which is very cosy. On that street you see many statues and art from local artists, this is a very pleasant town.
We pass a shopping mall in order to enjoy the airconditionning inside… there we start conversation with a storekeeper who advises us to go through the Grand Mesa on our way towards the Black Canyon of the Gunnison as this will be our next stop.
Daytrip approx. 632 km
